Coastal Communities research
The North West Coastal Forum and 4NW jointly commissioned research to establish a base-line picture of the region's coastal communities.
'A Qualitative and Quantitative Assessment of Socio-Economic & Environmental Issues and Opportunities for Coastal Communities in North West England' looked at both large and small coastal settlements in the region to assess their socio-economic and environmental value, issues and opportunities. It explored examples, from both within the region and elsewhere, where intervention - for example investment in regeneration or infrastructure - has had a positive effect.
The research, funded by 4NW and Defra, will be used as part of the evidence base for future spatial, economic and coastal strategy work in the region.
