Sustainability

4NW takes a leading role in the advancement of the sustainable development agenda across and beyond the North West, by working with partners and stakeholders across all sectors to ensure that sustainable development principles are a consistent and underlying feature of policy-making and delivery.

Climate change mitigation and adaptation is a key issue for 4NW. we are a leading partner in the North West Climate Change Partnership, seconding staff to the North West Climate Change Unit. 4NW is also leading CLASP - a North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership funded programme to support all North West Local Authorities in implementing and reporting on the new climate change National Indicators.

4NW recognises that the need to move to more sustainable patterns of consumption and production is more pressing than ever. 4NW supports the Regional Technical Advisory Body on Waste, and we are members of the Sustainable Procurement Forum, Sustainable Consumption and Production Partnership, Waste Regional Advisory Group and North West Waste Committee.

4NW incorporates sustainable development at the heart of all its functions and is demonstrating how the aims of sustainable development can be integrated and mainstreamed into policy and delivery activity. See the menu options in the left hand column to find out more.
