Unanimous all-party support for 4NW

Members of 4NW have reaffirmed their support for the Leaders Board following the formation of the new coalition government.  Local authority leaders from all parties as well as leading business and third sector leaders unanimously supported a joint statement supporting 4NW's track record of collaborative achievement.

Statement

"4NW - the Leaders Board for the North West of England - has earned a first class reputation throughout both the public and private sectors for its innovative work on strategic issues such as transport, housing, planning and economic development over a number of years which have led to measurable improvements in the economic, social and environmental fabric of the region.

"In collaboration with the NWDA, 4NW has been at the forefront of the development of RS2010 - a new Regional Strategy for the North West of England, focused on improving quality of life for all. 4NW ensures local authority leaders as well as the private and third sector have a voice on the big decisions affecting the 6.9 million people who live here

"Above all, the Leaders Board provides a high level democratic and accountable voice for the region, capable of making tough, often difficult decisions in the interests of the people we seek to represent.

"Members therefore confirm their support to continue the current Leaders Board and seek constructive discussions with Government to enable this."
