RS2010 Northwest Regional Strategy

In November 2009, the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act was granted Royal Assent. The Act requires the establishment of Regional Leaders Boards like 4NW in each of the regions of England.

It will also give 4NW and the NWDA joint responsibility for producing RS2010, our region's single regional strategy, which will replace both the old Regional Economic Strategy (RES) and Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) .

The Regional Strategy for the Northwest provides a unique opportunity to bring together its spatial, economic, social and environmental strategies and build a new long term vision for the region.

The 12 week public consultation on the Principles and Issues Paper closed on 30th April 2009, and we would like to thank all those who participated in the debate. A report containing an assessment and summary of responses to the Northwest Regional Strategy Principles and Issues Paper consultation exercise is available in the links column.

Part 1 of the Regional Strategy was published on 4th January 2010 and was open for an 8 week consultation throughout January and February 2010. Part 1 sets out the high-level framework and outlines the overarching vision, priorities and action areas for the strategy that will enable Northwest partners to work together to maximise the region's opportunities and address the challenges over the next twenty years. Read more here.
